Start Lying to Yourself

My friend Murphy

A little under year ago my life took a turn towards something very negative.  This negativity seemed to happen when my life was at an all time high.  Murphy's Law came knocking at my door, when all seems right something is sure to go wrong.
I have to admit I'm 100% guilty of welcoming my friend Murphy to my door, with everything going right I would constantly tell myself each and every single day that what could go wrong with my situation was probably about to happen, and slowly but surely it did.

Why did this happen?

You see your actions in life follow your beliefs.  What your doing right now you are probably doing because you've told yourself time and time again that that is exactly what you should be doing or worse, not doing.  Slowly but surely whatever you truly believe you will start to do.  With me, I believed negativity was about to strike at any moment and my mind pretty much seeked out anything that would reassure me of my belief.

What did I do?

After my life seemed to fall apart, I knew for a fact I couldn't accept my negative beliefs anymore.  I needed a new set of beliefs to follow and I did what I have done hundreds of time before, I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and started writing down my NEW beliefs.  I basically wrote down a bunch of lies. I call them lies because in that moment I didn't believe I could ever believe what I was writing down.  It was a bunch things I would think about myself and things I was going to do. Everyday for almost a year I have read these lies and written down them over and over again.

Why did I do that?

I did it because I needed to tell myself a new story, a new direction n which my life was about to go. Sometimes we get all caught up in negative lies we tell ourselves and with that we often live out negative feelings and actions we don't like.

Why do I call them lies?

Positive or negative, our thoughts are lies, there are no truths to them.  I say this because everyone has their own version of why they think what they think.  And if you explain to anyone why you think what you think someone is always sure to have advice for you why you shouldn't think the thoughts you think.

What am I suggesting for you?

I suggest if you don't like your life right now, rewrite it.  It's simple, a piece of paper and a pen and start writing:

-A day by day fake journal of what you want
-Affirmations
-What your ideal career looks like
-How you want to feel
-What you want
-Goals
-etc...(no rules, just dream)

It doesn't matter what you write just write down positive stuff and read it often you'll start to believe it.  And once you start to believe it you will eventually act in a way that matches exactly the thoughts (lies) you tell yourself.  And it all started with a pen and a piece of paper.

Your life is the story you tell yourself.

Bedtime Thought Blast!!!!

Bedtime Thought Blast!!!!

Every book, every seminar and every audio I have ever listen to has explained the importance of visualization to achieve what you want in life.  It took me quit a bit of practice but once mastered I have achieved some pretty amazing things.  My last visualization has helped me move across the country and put me on a journey I won't soon forget.

Visualizing what you want in life is pretty easy, I'm not going to deny this but what is difficult is when life hands you things you don't want to deal with.  Negativity, anger and frustration this come in all kinds of forms each and everyday.  When these little annoyances take over your mind it can
seem absolutely hopeless to get back on track to your big goals and dreams.  I recently started using a new little trick that helps me sleep at night and gets me to realize that tomorrow is a brand new day.

At bedtime, it seems like hundred little things run through our mind that have annoyed us through out the day. It could be your boss or something that happened in traffic our mind just can't let go.  Before falling asleep we tend to run the scenario in our head over and over and it affects our sleep and can't get us to relax.

What I want you to do right before falling asleep is take every single annoyance from the day and put them in an imaginary box in your head.   And picture yourself walking away from the box and hiding behind a safety glass abut 20 feet away from the box.  Why are you hiding?  Because there is a detonator for the dynamite inside the box that holds your negative thoughts from the day.
Push down on the handle and watch the box and your negative thoughts completely explode and disappear allowing you to get to sleep thought free.  This concept may seem a little silly but believe me when your mind is filled with annoying thoughts of negativity visualizing the pulverization of them is quite therapeutic.

Your goal of doing this activity is to teach you that at bedtime you are preparing for a brand new day  and a world of possibilities brought on by the sunrise that is only a sleep away. Are you ready for a better life and a better sleep?  If so blow up those thoughts at the end of each and everyday.

Secret To Success!

Secret To Success!

The secret to success is something that people would pay huge amounts of money for.  People looking for the key to riches, whether I money, happiness or freedom.  I've studied success and personal development and even psychology for many years. These are things I am highly passionate about.  I am by no means a certified expert with diplomas hanging on the wall, I'm just a guy who knows a lot on these subjects. Through my studies and life experience I have found the keys to success that keep coming up time and time again in the subjects I have learned.  Here are some of the keys to success:

FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS

We all have things we are extremely good at doing.  Ask yourself what are you good at doing?  Is it cooking, inspiring or even telling jokes.  Whatever it may be that you are good at, you became good by doing it over and over again you have experience in doing these things so why not capitalize on them?
Myself, I've always been good in the art of entertainment.  I have perused speaking and writing, am I the best at what I do?  Not yet, but I will develop into one of the top in my field through practice.

GIVE IT TIME

It is said an overnight success is built over 10-20 years so I'm sorry to break the news to you but there is no such thing as an overnight success.  Sure there are things that happen to people that make them rich overnight and puts them in the spotlight so fast it turns heads but there is always a catch. The catch is the quicker things come to you the quicker they can disappear.
You must develop into a person who can handle the success you are given through the right self image. Seeing yourself, thinking of yourself and acting the way a successful person should think. If you fail to do so you will lose it all resorting back to the way you've always acted, thought and seen yourself, which have brought you to where you are right now.
Think of people who win the lottery and within a year or two lose everything.  Why does this happen?  The right habits an mindset have not been developed to handle the fame and fortune handed to them.

DEVELOP BETTER HABITS

Your daily routines have turned you into who you are today.  You have made decisions to either do things or not do things and this is why you are exactly where you are right now at this time of reading this blog.
Ask yourself what is it you really want to do with your life?  Now that you have the answer ask yourself would someone at the level of life you are seeking doing exactly what you are doing with your days?
I know you probably said no and the excuses flooded your mind as to why you can't do the routines it would take to excel to a level of success you are seeking.  This is completely normal to think this way.  Let me put it into prospective for you, everyday you allow yourself to put off a constructive habit is one day closer to you complaining that things haven't gone your way in life.
Start with one or two habits you want to substitute for destructive habits you are presently doing that are holding you back.

There are so many secrets to success in life the problem is these secrets are not things that we want to do.  That is the secret, it takes self discipline, motivation and the will to carry on when you are beat down and nothing seems like it is going right.  Work through it and keep your goal ahead of you.  You must reach and stretch yourself out to limits you won't enjoy doing but the pay off is huge in the end.

This is the secret to success

Excited!

Excitement!

The good thing about getting excited is it gives you an amazing burst of energy.  It's like nothing you have ever felt before and it helps you accomplish more than you have ever accomplished before.
A feeling of excitement also give you a clear mind to think of all the possibilities why and how you can do anything to achieve your dreams in life.

This morning I woke up extremely excited to start the day and the weekend!  I don't have any plans but I know my mind is clear enough to plan the rest of my month out.  And this my friends is a great feeling.  My feeling of excitement has come over me because all the hard work I have been doing is finally paying off.  It is so easy to complain about doing all the day-to-day activities that get us ahead of the game while the rest of our friends are sitting around whining and being lazy but it's days like today (for me) that I realize how good I've got it.

Here is a simple list of things you can do that will get you ahead of the crowd and get you excited knowing you have accomplished them in your life while the rest are sitting around being lazy.

- Drink more water
-Eat better foods
-Exercise 3-4 days per week
-Work from a list so you get your tasks done
-Read 5 days per week related to your field of work (minimum 15 minutes per day)
-Prepare at night for the next day

Once you can get these activities in your life, our world gets exciting knowing you are getting ahead.  Slowly you will have accomplished your goals doing all the simple things in life that the majority of people have been putting off, and that is EXCITITNG!!!!

Thankful for?

One day you will wake up with a huge smile on your face because of the realization you are starting something great.  This morning I wake up to the opportunity of starting a new job after making a decision to leave a position I took in December.  When I opened my eyes  this morning I felt a feeling of "new start" written all over the day and this my friends is something that feels fantastic!

Morning gives us the opportunity to open our eyes and be thankful for the little things.  We often forget what we should be grateful for.  A simple kiss, a bank account with money or something as small as having two feet to get us to where we need to go.  We have many things to be grateful for.

Why not take the time to sit down and jot down a list of 10 things you are grateful for this morning so you can realize how great this day and all the days ahead of you will be.  Learn to appreciate the things that you once thought to be great that you simply forgot how amazing they actually where.  Today is a new day be thankful for what you've got!

What are your beliefs?

If you look back on your life there will be many things you can laugh at now that you once thought were a disaster.  I want to cover beliefs, we all learn over the course of our lives that the beliefs we had about things or even ourselves have proved to be completely false.  Once the beliefs were changed a new version of you blossomed that was hidden behind a simple false belief.

Changing your beliefs have either come through challenging yourself or someone challenging your beliefs and over a bit of time you developed a whole new set of beliefs.  I want you to think of where you are right now as you read this and the version of yourself ten yeas ago.  How have your beliefs changed?

The reason I bring up changing your beliefs is because it is so important in developing yourself into a person of growth as oppose to a person who is held back by something false. If you are going through life with the belief that you can never accomplish anything more or you believe that you could never overcome a fear you probably won't get to far and you may live with regret.  Start to challenge your beliefs one at a time. Take a bit of time for this is not an easy process to question yourself, in the end the pay off will be huge.

FEAR IS OLY THERE TO SCARE US!

Our fears aren't always something that will harm us but simply a feeling inside that will either make us step back or move ahead.  The truly successful know to push through the fear and move on to the next level of their lives.

A couple of days ago I had to make a decision to push through my fear and make a decision to change something in my life.  Making this decision was not an easy on but I had to weight out my pros and cons.  I can tell you one thing for sure the cons far outweighed the pros.

If you ever get fearful of making a decision, please I beg of you weight out the pros and cons.  Even if you are unsure what the pros and cons may be look at the regret you may need to live with by not pushing though that fear.  Because there is nothing worse than living and saying the words:
"I really should have, when I had the chance!"

Forget plan B

How is the new year's resolution going?

Did you start off with gusto, a plan and dream to become a new you?  Like the majority, you probably said yes but I wonder how it's going to be in about two weeks.  Life's little stresses may set in,  things may not go as planned and your old habits will start to creep back into your life.

When all this happens I want you to breath, take moment and write out your plan.  You see it's not about having a plan B, it's about not giving up when things get a little hectic.  Try again and again, don't be afraid to start over I promise you won't look like a fool.  To me a fool is someone who quits at the first sign of defeat.

What's your reason?

As I woke up this morning my first thought was the mountain of work I needed to do when I arrived at my job and it made me a little anxious.  The thought of non stop busy work is not an attractive thought first thing before getting out of bed.  A moment or two passed and I slowly shifted my thoughts to writing this blog, some video work I'm planning on working on and my bank account growing and it literally got me right out of bed.

We have two types of thoughts, ones that make us happy and ones that make us sad.  A great practice first thing in the morning is to practice gratitude and thinking of reasons why and how to make a difference in this world.  Is it an easy task....NO!...but you still need to reach inside of your mind and use the happy thoughts that make you eager to succeed.

Being happy is not something you can be 24 hours a day 7 days a week but as long as you try on a daily basis to make yourself happy and excited you are well on your way to living a life of success.

A new you

Today I want to talk about one of the worst times you can experience because it's one of the best times you can experience.
I want to discuss all lows that we all seem to experience from time to time through our lives.  It could be minor like going to buy something a realize the store is sold out or it could be something a little bit more serious like loss of a loved one or a financial crisis.

When we hit these lows it can be very difficult to rationalize with ourselves that things will one day get better, yet things always do seem to get better.  Myself, over the last couple of years I've gone through some heartache and some difficult times but I've learned one thing though it all.  Once I got through the hurt and grieving I knew it was time to improve myself.  It was time to pick myself up and dust myself off and get back to work on myself.

Once you get to an all time low you have a choice you can give up and feel worse or one morning you can wake up and become someone that you have been waiting to become, all you need to do is try.  However long it takes you to come out of your hurt know that on the other side there is a version of you that is stronger, better and eager to succeed.  Once you find that person inside you and trust in them your whole world will change for the better.

Doors can open

I want to begin but letting you know that I believe in destiny.  I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason whether good or bad.  Since I'm an optimism I prefer to see why things happen for the better than trying to understand why things go sour in life.

Some of you may know that I have recently uprooted my life and move across the country started a new relationship and got a new job many thing have change in my life.  The series of events over the last 6 months have been a little unreal to say the least.  People I have run into, opportunities that have opened up to me and even lessons I have learned extremely quickly have helped me understand that when you open yourself up to change and let go of your negative beliefs great things can happen to you.

In August, while at a conference I met an amazing individual and it seems the second we met I knew something amazing was meant to be.  An energy came over me and I took out a pen and paper as I often do and simply started writing out my future.  And slowly but surely what I wrote started to come true.  I've come to realize the things we achieve in life have a direct connection to how much we believe in ourselves and how much we want something.
I'm not quite sure if you have made a New Years resolution this year yet I know you can achieve whatever you go after as long as you want and believe you can do it.
